Threet and the Tangles name has not been verified in any public record we have seen. The Tangles name may be a corruption of Tankersley or Tankelsley. Families of those names appear in North Carolina records. Some of them may have been associated with Cherokee or other "civilized tribes" and might have been altered in attempts to avoid the indian removals.
