     Helen Wilberta Burleigh was a welder in a west coast shipyard during WW2, then worked in a wooden box factory for fifteen years. Following her divorce she lived with sisters while going to night school in CA and then LPN school in Omaha. After graduation she returned to Portland WA and worked in various hospitals until she was appointed at the Veterans' Hospital there. She retired at age 65 in 1979. Helen was an avid family history buff and shared much information that appears in these notes.
