In 1941 he joined the Fred Klug Company and in 1953 he became vice-president of the Company. Albert August Herman Klug was often called Bert. He was born on 16 February 1893 Tigerton, Shawano Co, WI. He married an unknown person circa 1919 Portland, OR. He died in September 1954 Portland, OR, at age 61. He was buried Rose City Cemetery, Portland, OR.

He married Anna Emelia Zellmer, daughter of Christof Zellmer and Auguste Drews, on 20 November 1877 St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Winchester, Winnebago Co, WI; A record at Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield shows that marriage took place at St. Peter's Lutheran church in Winchester, Winnebago Co. it mentions witnesses: William Zellmer, Bertha Henke; and states the couple lived in the town of Caledonia. Carl Gottlib Helmuth Klug died on 1 October 1941 Tigerton, Shawano Co, WI, at age 87. He was buried after 1 October 1941 Union Cem, Tigerton, Shawano Co, WI.

     Ferdinand Gottlieb Helmuth Klug was a farmer near Readfield, Waupaca Co, Wisconsin. A plat map for 1889 shows his son, Reinhardt, on 80 acres in Section 3 and 20 acres in Section 9 of Caledonia Twp, Waupaca Co WI.

He married Caroline Wilhelmina Zastrow, daughter of Martin Wilhelm Zastrow and Caroline A. Feike, circa 18 October 1847 Ev. Germans to America volumes have been searched starting in 1877 and working back to before 1860. No family group resembling the Klugs has been identified, and various surname spellings such as FLUG, FLAY, FLAG, KLAG, KLAY have been searched. The family may have come by an alternate route such as through Canada or Galveston -- or may be recorded under another misspelling. Ferdinand Gottlieb Helmuth Klug died on 21 July 1875 Caledonia Twp., Waupaca Co, WI, at age 56. He was buried Evangelical Lutheran Zion Cemetery, Readfield, Waupaca Co, WI; Section II, Row 8, appr 15th grave from N end by church (small stone, flat on ground, partly turf covered in June, 2003). There is no family stone and no other Klug stones were seen. The flat broken stone was replaced abt 2005 with a small upright red one, per Paul Zellmer.

     Fredrich Emil Klug was a telegrapher as a young man in northern Wisconsin and then in Belgrade MT where he and Edna met and married. The following year they and the Kinseys moved to Granger, WA where they bought and operated a large general merchandise store. That partnership was dissolved after a couple years and Fred went to work for the Pacific Fruit and Produce Company. He went into business for himself about 1926 as the Fred Klug Company, dealing in potatoes, onions and apples, specializing in seed potatoes and onion sets. He retired from the business in 1952, and it was continued by his sons, Paul and William Carl.
