     Henderson Carroll Petty was born on 9 September 1832 Carroll Co, TN. He married Nancy Ann Williams circa 1865. Henderson Carroll Petty died on 21 March 1914 Carroll Co, TN, at age 81. He was buried Blair Cemetery, Clarksburg, Carroll Co, TN.

     Irene Petty was an avid family historian. She corresponded with relatives far and wide and collected much information on her Pettys and related families. She published a very useful book titled PETTYS IN AMERICA and provided much of the information on our Petty ancestry. She was active over many years as a member and officer of the DAR in Tennessee.

She was born on 24 July 1906 Boston Hollow, nr. Monoville, Smith Co, TN. She married Alexander Apple on 11 April 1925. Irene Petty survived Alexander Apple on 30 October 1945 Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, Davidson Co, TN. Irene Petty married Donald Richard Watt on 18 March 1950 Baptist Parsonage, Ypsilante, Washtenaw Co, MI; Rev. G. B. Shaw officiating. Irene Petty survived Donald Richard Watt in 1971. Irene Petty died on 20 October 1982 Smith Co Memorial Hospital at age 76. She was buried Ridgewood Cemetery, Carthage, Smith Co, TN.
