     William Smith was a wealthy businessman in Baltimore, continental congressman 1777 -78 and member of first US congress (Federalist) 1789 -91. First auditor, US Treasury 1791. Maryland state senator 1801.

He was born on 12 April 1728 Donegal Twp, Lancaster Co, PA. He married Elizabeth Buchanan on 28 March 1751 Baltimore, MD. William Smith died on 27 March 1814 Baltimore, MD, at age 85. He was buried Old Westminster Graveyard.

     Sarah Smithers married William Dimmitt, son of William Dimmitt, on 3 October 1744 St. John's Parish, Baltimore Co, MD.

     Cal Smothers married Mary Anne Thomas, daughter of Richard Thomas and Rebeccah Singleton. One unnamed child, died an infant.

     Charles E. Snyder married Rose May Gloyd, daughter of Samuel Sylvester Gloyd and Ann Eliza Clements, on 22 November 1887 Montgomery Co, MD.

     James L. Snyder was born circa 1839; age shown as 10 yrs at 1850 census. He married Mary E. Wallich, daughter of Christian Wallich and Ariana Miller. James L. Snyder died before 1894; when Mary was shown as a widow in distribution of proceeds of sale of Dower rights of Mary Miller 10 Mar 1894 (MC Equity & Tax sales JA-14, folio 50).

They had at least 6 children: Grace E, Alice R, Ethel M (qv), James L (qv), Florence E, Russel W.. James Lewis Snyder died circa 1951. He was buried Christ Church, Howard Co, MD.

     Judith Soane was born. She married James Thweatt, son of James Thweatt and Mary M. (?), on 24 November 1701 Henrico Co, VA; According to the Mayes Family source:
Two land grants were made to James Thweatt, Jr 1703 in Henrico Co, for 234 and 223 acres. He was appointed a Justice in Prince Peorge Co in 1712. He was appointed Sheriff in 1718 and 1719. His five sons are written of in Slaughter's History of Bristol Parish (p 205) as "the well known brothers, of Palestine, near Petersburg.
