     Charles Carroll was appointed Attorney General for Lord Baltimore on his arrival from England in October 1688, he later served as a magistrate and registrar of the Land Office for the colony. His will shows that he accumulated a large estate, much of which came from his first wife, Martha Smith Ridgely Underwood.

He was born circa 1660 Ireland. He married Martha Smith on 9 November 1689. Charles Carroll survived Martha Smith in November 1690 Anne Arundel Co, MD. Charles Carroll married Mary Darnall, daughter of Henry Darnall and Elinor Hatton, on 14 February 1693 MD.      Sarah Cary was often called Sally. She was born circa 1819 NC. She married William H. Hatch, son of Thomas Hardaway Hatch and Cinthia Brewer.
